20ish years ago I was at work and a co-worker asked me if I was turning into a smurf. I chuckled and said no, why do you ask?
He said your fingers are blue, so I figured you were a smurf..... funny ha ha
I went on to tell him that I detailed my BLUE 99 Blazer with...you guessed it...BLUE WAX.
He asked why I used blue wax, and I told him that it removes scratches......
He then chuckled and said..."that's cute"
--oh boy, here we go--
He went on to tell me to basically forget everything I know and start from scratch...if I was serious and wanted to learn.
buckle up, here we go.
Next thing you know, he was practicing EOTO... Pronounced E-OTO....Each One Teach One, and directed me to a forum that this guy named Mike Phillips was running at the time.
Learned so much and, thus, my "real" detailing began. You all know the story, you lived it yourself, weather 20 days in or 20 years in, you are proud to be an EOTO member.
We talked a little everyday about it, what to do next, what each other was trying.
Next thing you know, my dad and I were detailing his 99 Vette, entering it into contests (2nd place for our first contest, only because our trunk was closed...boooo, second contest, 1st... lesson learned)
Fast forward a couple of years, kids were born and detailing time was limited. Still dabbled, but not like I use to. No more car shows, but still able to "maintain" my vehicles and occasionally a friends (only if they helped and wanted to learn and do it... EOTO).
Fast forward again, kids are older, still little freetime, but started dabbling again.... and found there are more products on the market, way more, some new tools, new techniques, ceramic.... oh my.
So I started watching youtube videos and somehow I stumbled upon a forum called mike phillips....HEY, I recognize that name!
So here I am, giving my thanks to Mike for guiding me years and years ago on teaching me (countless hours spent reading the MOL forum)....and giving me the opportunity to pay it forward and teach others.... EOTO.
With that said, I have not done a "FULL" detail of my 2007 Trailblazer, but got the exterior and interior looking almost showroom ready. This has survived a 70lb black lab, 2 kids, a wife that drinks coffee in it to work....and multiple family vacations to Colorado and picking up the kids friends, countless meals.... you know what I am talking about. for 16 years old, I say I did a decent job keeping her clean (minus the dings and parking lot scratches).
Thanks for allowing me to share. I don't post much, but I read a lot, so....Keep Calm and Post On.....
Check out the blue 00 blazer pics, that was was 8 years old when I sold it and got the 2007 trailblazer
I dug up the first car show we did, as you can see, trunk closed.
and last is the trailblazer from this weekend
keep in mind, the tan interior of the blazer was from 2007... not good pixel cameras just yet, and the outside pics was done at night and not worth posting
the grey interior is the trailblazer
OH, and NEVER drove through car wish, and if I did, it was touchless
