INFO
On Wednesday, September 27th starting at 1:00pm Pacific Time and 4:00pm Eastern Time, (you Mountain and Central Time folks can figure your start time out from these two data points), we will be going LIVE with our Online Detailing Class talking about Orange Peel.
With Yancy out this week, I'll be going solo for an in-depth discussion on one of the most misunderstood topics in paintwork correction: orange peel! What is it? When should you remove it by sanding? How do you manage customer expectations? Plus, I'll be answering any and ALL of your questions on the topic.
Orange Peel Removal Training Streetrod!
This is a 1948 Ford Pickup Streetrod with a fresh CUSTOM paint job and LOTS of ORANGE PEEL. This truck is here for the 3-day detailing class where we cover more topics than any other detailing class on planet Earth including Machine Dry Sanding on the second day of the 3-day class. (the boat in the background is for day 3 of the class EXTREME Boat Detailing)
Here's a section on the hood that I have machine dry sanded. Towards the bottom left hand side, you can see where the paint looks flat or dull is where most of the orange peel has been leveled. Towards the top middle you can see where some of the orange peel or tops of the hills have started to be sanded and then the darker areas are the low points that have not been sanded or leveled at all.
This is the same picture as above, and I've added text and graphics to make sure everyone is looking in the right areas.
