The above quote is from a gentleman named Arthur Harrison Motely aka Red Motley. He is the former President and Chairman of the Board for Parade Publications.

Is both a quote and the title of an album he released. There is no book by this title. Once in a while you can find the album for sale on Amazon or eBay. I did however find a YouTube video, which is the audio from the album. It's a good listen.

And then just to comments, the reason I like this quote or saying is because too often I've experience people making nasty, negative and even demeaning comments to myself and anyone working, where a part of their work is to share information about a product or products.

Some people have a negative view of salespeople. What they fail to remember, is that many of the things, if not all of the things they own, house, car, food, beer, etc. they purchased after someone one sold it to them.

My favorite example is the below picture of two people blasting around on Jet Skis

My guess is they are having the time of their life. But they couldn't have all this fun until someone sold them the Jet Skis.

One thing for sure, you can't fix broken people.

My own personal practice goes like this,

Never sell anything, solve people's problems. If you can solve someone's problem, (with your product or service), they will sell themselves on you and your products or services.
