Mike i just wanted to thank you for all your advice during the past years.
I have been following you since the Auto Geek Days.

I do have questions , which Clay Towel works the best with black paint and also should one have a dedicated clay towel for this situation.
What microfiber towels do you recommend to wipe off ceramic detail spray?
Thanks,Nick

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Lots of detailing personalities in our industry to choose from, so thank you.

For black paint, if the goal is to remove some form of bonded contamination, like overspray paint, etc., I would not use a clay TOWEL but instead, would seek out a premium quality FINE GRADE clay bar, like the Clay Magic Find Grade Clay Bar. Use these words to search,

CM2200 – CLAY MAGIC® (BLUE)

I'm sure there are other fine grade clay bars, but Clay Magic is the originator for this category and I've always had great luck with their fine grade clay bars. Then, USE PLENTY OF CLAY LUBE to hyper-lubricate the paint as you clay.

To be honest, if if you're super careful, it will be very difficult to NOT mar the paint as you clay. This is why I practice, preach and teach, IF you're going to do any type of mechanical decontamination, this would include, clay bars, towels, mitts, discs, etc. you should alredy have factored in at least ONE MACHINE POLISHING STEP to remove any accidental marring.

And of course, this applies to ALL types of paint, it's just black shows everything.

Thanks,

Nick

To be honest, I don't currently have a favorite but there are some great options on Autofiber.com

You can even call their customer support, tell them what you want to use the towel for an they know from feedback from thousands of pro detailers, which microfiber towels are the most popular for this type of work.

If you talk to Ian, tell him Mike Phillips sent you. (he's the owner, and probably not likely to be the person that answers the phone, but you never know)

Thank you for the help!
I assume, the fine clay bar would be less aggressive than a clay towel, providing one doesn't drop the clay on the floor. Lol

Yes, a fine grade bar of detailing clay, when used with plenty of lube, would in my opinion and expereince, be less aggressive, or less prone to induce marring to the paint than any polymerized rubber clay substitnute.
